This page explains how to delete your WaterGiraffe account and the data tied to it. It covers four routes — in-app, web request, local-only wipe, and full uninstall — and lists what is removed in each.

What WaterGiraffe stores

A short reminder, so you know what is actually being deleted:

  • On your device: hydration logs, milestones, settings, reminder schedules, custom drink types, Health Connect operations (Android), and any cached weather or product lookups.
  • In Supabase (your cloud account): email, user ID, optional display name and profile photo, hydration data you chose to sync, friend list, and challenge participation.
  • In RevenueCat: a pseudonymous app user ID and your Pro purchase / renewal events.
  • At Anthropic, Open-Meteo, Open Food Facts: no record tied to you. We do not send your name, email, or any account identifier to these services.

See the for the full data table.

Option 1 — Delete in the app (recommended)

This is the fastest route and removes both your local data and your cloud account.

  1. Open WaterGiraffe.
  2. Go to Profile → Account → Delete account.
  3. Confirm with your account email.
  4. Tap Delete permanently.

What this removes

  • Your Supabase account row and all cloud-synced hydration data.
  • Your friend connections and challenge participation.
  • Your profile photo from Supabase Storage.
  • All local app data on this device.

Timing: cloud deletion completes within seven days; the local wipe happens immediately. We will not send confirmation emails (the account is gone).

What this does not remove

  • Data on other devices where you used the same account — open the App on each and either delete in-app or clear app storage.
  • Health Connect entries that WaterGiraffe wrote to the system store on Android. To remove those, open Health Connect → Data and access → Hydration → All entries and delete entries written by WaterGiraffe.
  • RevenueCat subscription records — see the section below.

Option 2 — Email request (if you cannot access the app)

If you cannot log in, the device is lost, or the in-app flow does not work, send a request from your account email to .

Template

Subject: Delete my WaterGiraffe account

Please delete the WaterGiraffe account associated with this email address along with all cloud-synced data, friend connections, and challenge participation.

Account email (if different from the sender): _______
Approximate sign-up date: _______

Thanks.

What we do

  • Within 7 days — acknowledge receipt and confirm the account we found.
  • Within 30 days — complete deletion of your Supabase account and associated data, then send a final confirmation. Sooner where law requires.

You can ask us to delete only specific data(for example, “delete my challenges but keep my account”); say so in the request.

Option 3 — Local-only wipe (keep the cloud account)

If you want to clear the App on this device but keep your account so you can restore on another phone, use the system’s app-data wipe.

Android

Settings → Apps → WaterGiraffe → Storage → Clear data.

iOS

Settings → General → iPhone Storage → WaterGiraffe → Offload App (then reinstall) or Delete App followed by reinstall.

This removes everything on the device but leaves your cloud account untouched. Sign in again on any device to restore.

Option 4 — Uninstall

Uninstalling WaterGiraffe removes the App and all local data from the device.

  • Android: long-press the icon → Uninstall, or Settings → Apps → WaterGiraffe → Uninstall.
  • iOS: long-press the icon → Remove App → Delete App.

Uninstall does not delete your Supabase account. If you also want the cloud account gone, use Option 1 or Option 2 first, or after re-installing.

Third-party records (Anthropic, RevenueCat)

We do not have direct delete access to these vendors’ systems. Here is how to request deletion from each:

Anthropic

We do not send your name, email, or any account identifier when we generate a Weekly Insight — only an anonymous summary of your week. As a result Anthropic almost certainly holds no record linked to you. If you would still like to make a request, contact and reference our use case: “WaterGiraffe weekly insight, anonymous summaries via the Claude API.” Anthropic does not train its models on API traffic.

RevenueCat

RevenueCat holds your anonymous app user ID and Pro purchase / renewal events. Find your app user ID in Profile → About → Diagnostics. Email with the subject “GDPR / DPDP deletion request” and include that ID. RevenueCat responds within their stated SLA (typically 30 days).

Google Play / Apple App Store receipts

Your subscription history with the platform store is governed by Google’s and Apple’s own data policies. We cannot delete it on your behalf; manage it in the store’s own privacy controls.

What is retained briefly after deletion

Indian tax and accounting rules require us to keep financial records of paid subscriptions for the period required by law (currently up to eight years for tax records under Section 44AA of the Income Tax Act, 1961, and up to ten years for GST). These records contain the invoice and amount only — they do not contain your hydration data, social activity, or profile content.

Back-ups roll forward on a 30-day cycle. A deleted account may exist in encrypted Supabase back-ups for up to 30 days after deletion but is not accessible to anyone in normal operation and will be over-written.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or if a delete request is not completed within 30 days, please write to:

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Board. EU / UK users may complain to their national Supervisory Authority; California residents may contact the California Privacy Protection Agency.
