Privacy Policy — TechHire: Tech & Remote Jobs
This policy describes what data the TechHire Android app collects across its six-country job market (United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Australia, and India), how it is used, who it is shared with, how long it is retained, and how you can request its deletion. It matches the disclosures in our Google Play Data Safety section.
1. No account required
Tech Hire does not ask you to sign up, sign in, or provide your name, email, phone number, address, résumé, or payment information. The app has no login screen.
2. Data we collect
The app and the third-party SDKs bundled inside it automatically collect the following categories of data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit).
2.1 Approximate location optional — permission-gated
When you grant location permission, the app reads your current coordinates once, converts them to a city and state on your device, and uses the resulting city name to pre-fill the default job-search filter. The raw coordinates never leave your device. Only the derived city/state is stored (see §2.4).
You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Tech Hire → Permissions. The app works without it.
2.2 Device identifiers required
- Android ID — used as a stable per-device key so we can save your job-alert subscription and push the right notifications to your device.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) registration token — used to deliver job-alert push notifications.
- Google Advertising ID (AAID) — used by Google AdMob to show and measure ads. You can reset or limit this in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
2.3 App interaction and search data required
- Filter inputs (keywords, job type, work mode, location, state, city, experience, salary) — sent to our job-search backend at
job-index.arthajobboard.comto return matching listings. - Interaction events (screen opens, tile taps, saved-job toggles, lifecycle events) — captured by PostHog analytics so we can understand which features are used and improve the app.
2.4 Crash logs and diagnostics required
Google AdMob, Google Firebase, and PostHog automatically collect: device model, OS version, app version, locale, crash stack traces, and basic performance metrics (e.g. screen load time). These are used to keep the app stable and to operate ads.
2.5 Saved jobs and preferences on-device only — not collected
Jobs you save and your filter preferences are stored in a local WatermelonDB database on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes this data. It is never transmitted to our servers.
2.6 Feedback email attachments not collected by us
If you send feedback through the app, the app opens your device’s own email app with a pre-filled draft. Any photo you attach is handed to your email app via a standard Android intent. We only receive what your email app sends — we do not upload photos from within Tech Hire.
3. Who we share data with
We use the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy and processes data on its own infrastructure.
| Third party | What it receives | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob (Google LLC) | Advertising ID (AAID), device model, OS, app version, crash logs, diagnostics, IP address | Displaying and measuring ads |
| Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google LLC) | FCM registration token, app version | Delivering push notifications |
| Google Firebase Remote Config (Google LLC) | Installation ID, app version, OS | Feature flags and minimum-version checks |
| Google Cloud Firestore (Google LLC, acting as our data processor) | Stable device ID, FCM token, filter preferences, timezone | Storing your job-alert subscription |
| PostHog Inc. | Device-scoped distinctId, app interaction events, device model, OS, app version, IP address | Product analytics |
Our job-search API (job-index.arthajobboard.com) | Filter query parameters, IP address | Returning matching job listings |
Google AdMob and PostHog may use the data they receive for their own business purposes (for example, AdMob uses the AAID for ad personalisation). Firebase Cloud Firestore stores data on our behalf only and does not use it for its own purposes.
We do not sell your data to data brokers. We do not share data with any other third parties.
4. Legal bases and purposes
We process the data above for the following purposes:
- App functionality — loading jobs, sending notifications, remembering your filters.
- Analytics — understanding feature usage and diagnosing issues.
- Advertising — displaying and measuring ads via Google AdMob.
- Fraud prevention, security, and compliance — preventing duplicate or abusive notification subscriptions.
5. Data retention
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Firestore subscription document (device ID, FCM token, filters) | Kept until you request deletion (see §6) |
| PostHog analytics events | Retained per PostHog’s default retention (currently 7 years) |
| AdMob / Firebase diagnostics | Retained per Google’s published SDK retention |
| On-device data (WatermelonDB saved jobs, preferences) | Until you uninstall the app or clear app data |
6. Your rights and how to request deletion
Because there is no account, we identify your data by the stable device identifier assigned to your installation.
To request deletion of the Firestore record associated with your device, email contact@hirenpaghadal.in from any address with the subject line “Tech Hire — Delete my data” and include either:
- your Android device ID (Settings → About phone → Build number), or
- your device model and the approximate date you first installed the app.
We will delete the matching Firestore document and confirm by reply within 7 business days. Aggregated, non-identifiable analytics may be retained as they can no longer be linked back to your device.
Uninstalling the app alone does not delete the server-side Firestore record — please email us to remove it.
You can also:
- Opt out of personalised ads in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Revoke location permission in Android Settings → Apps → Tech Hire.
- Stop notifications by disabling them for the app in Settings, which will prevent any further job-alert messages.
7. Children
Tech Hire is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the app, please contact us so we can delete any associated record.
8. Security
All network traffic between the app and any server (Firebase, PostHog, AdMob, and our job API) is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. If the update introduces new data categories, we will also update the Google Play Data Safety section.
10. International users, transfers, and applicable law
TechHire serves job seekers in six countries: the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Australia, and India. When you use the app, the data described in §2 is sent to our job-search backend, to Google (AdMob, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Firebase Remote Config, Cloud Firestore), and to PostHog. These services are operated from the United States and, in Google’s case, additional regions disclosed in Google’s own data-transfer notices.
If you use the app from a region whose laws give you additional rights, those rights apply on top of what is described here:
- EU / UK GDPR — legal bases for processing are described in §4. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards offered by Google and PostHog for transfers outside the EEA / UK.
- India DPDP Act, 2023 — we act as the Data Fiduciary; Google and PostHog act as Data Processors on our instructions. You can lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Board.
- USA — CCPA / CPRA (California) — we do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. California residents have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out — exercise any of them via contact@hirenpaghadal.in.
- Australia — Privacy Act 1988 — you may make a privacy complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner if a concern is not resolved by us first.
- Canada — PIPEDA — Canadian residents may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada in the same circumstances.
This Privacy Policy itself is governed by the laws of India. The courts of Rajkot, Gujarat, India have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from it, subject to any non-waivable consumer-protection rights you have under your local law.
11. Job listings and verticals
TechHire surfaces job listings across many verticals — including Software, QA, Developers, Healthcare, Caretaker, Trucking, Logistics, Customer Support, Retail, Hospitality, Education, and Finance. Each listing is published by the originating employer or job-board source; TechHire is not the employer and does not screen, endorse, or guarantee any role or salary shown.
When you tap Apply, the app deep-links to the originating employer’s application surface. From that point onward your interaction is governed by that employer’s own privacy policy. TechHire does not forward your details to the employer in the background.
